James J. White letters, 1860-1861 [manuscript].

Letters to his wife Mary from James Jones White, a captain in the 4th Virginia Regiment, C.S.A., chiefly written in Virginia early in the Civil War. White wrote of camp life, military duties, troop movements, the battles of First Bull Run and Harpers Ferry, and the Christian character of Gen. Stonewall Jackson. Also included is one letter written from White Sulphur Springs, Va., in 1860.
